As your District 6 County Commissioner, protecting the environment has been a major part of my role. I joined the Environmental Stewardship Committee so that I could contribute to protecting and sustaining our county's natural resources. 

Through my work as your District 6 County Commissioner, I led the charge to acquire over 1000 acres of green space for preservation, parks and greenways.  But there is more work to do!

Re-elect Susan Rodriguez-McDowell November 5, 2024

As your Mecklenburg District 6 County Commissioner, I successfully led the charge to keep property taxes as low as possible. My proposal reduced the county's planned tax increase from 1.5 cents to the 1 cent approved by voters for the school bonds. 

This minimized the financial burden on you, the taxpayer, while still addressing the county needs.

I have been actively focused on relieving overcrowding in our schools and creating an environment for high quality public education. I supported a major school bond approved by the voters of Mecklenburg County that will fund 30 major construction and renovation projects for CMS.  

These dollars will build new schools, replace outdated facilities, and improve learning environments and safety measures. 

As Chair of Mecklenburg County's Economic Development Committee, I will continue to strongly and intentionally lead us toward engaging small businesses and empowering them to scale up and compete for critical opportunities.  

This support will help these business owners, who are the backbone of our local economy, realize their full potential and achieve upward mobility.  

My top priority has always been to create opportunities for increasing household incomes, especially for those working the hardest at the foundation of our economy.
